Alert Update: Cyclone in Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia – Cyclone Freddy
Cyclone Freddy has caused massive damage in Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia, leading to a large loss of life.We are glad to share that the teams in Malawi, Mozambique and Zambia have been reported safe. Those still experiencing extreme weather have been asked to seek shelter.Throughout the region, there are blackouts, water shortages, and damaged roads. Many schools have been suspended at the national level, to ensure children’s safety. In Malawi, community partners in Phalombe and Nsanje have been displaced and our team is working with District Councils to provide support.
In Mozambique and Zambia, Hunger Project programs are not active in the affected provinces.We will continue to be in touch with our teams as the situation develops and will share further information should we have any.
