Helen GuinnessThe Hunger Project in the UK is privileged to have the partnership and support of Dionne Warwick to help us to launch World Hunger Day – Empowering People, Ending Hunger (see news coverage here).

The amazing achievements of those currently ending their own hunger in the developing world and Dionne’s commitment to the eradication of hunger and poverty through the empowerment of women and men to create sustainable futures for themselves, has inspired the UK team to create World Hunger Day.

This event represents an unprecedented shift in raising the profile of the achievements of communities at the grassroots level to end their own hunger and poverty and meet their basic needs.  I am profoundly grateful to our staff and volunteers in the UK for the tireless work that they have put into this project.  It has also prompted the formation of The Hunger Project’s Business Women’s Network and the Empower People. Ending Hunger Briefing on World Hunger Day, but we need to see other events springing up as well.

I urge Hunger Project friends old and new to show their solidarity with this initiative and make a stand to raise awareness and funds for our work. Book your tickets for the concertBuy a World Hunger Day T-shirt.
