Four dancers from the English National Ballet jumped off to launch the sale of T-shirts for World Hunger Day- Empowering People. Ending Hunger. First soloist, James Streeter with artists of the company, Grant Rae, Joshua McSherry-Gray and Nathan Young donned their World Hunger Day t-shirts and leapt into action.

World Hunger Day – Empowering People. Ending Hunger. takes place on Sunday 9th January 2011. In the UK, two major events will take place on World Hunger Day to raise funds for and draw awareness to the issues surrounding world hunger, which affect a sixth of the world’s population (over one billion people).
The evening will see a Gala Concert with international singing superstar Dionne Warwick and Friends (an international all-star line-up including Natalie Cole & Elaine Paige), together with the full orchestra of the Southbank Sinfonia and the London Community Gospel Choir come together at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre to perform some of the greatest songs in popular music.

The Empowering People. Ending Hunger Briefing – will happen during the day on Sunday 9th January in Central London (venue to be announced). Led by the UK arm of The Hunger Project, this half day briefing will bring together a panel of experts, including project leaders in Africa, South Asia and Latin America to share their direct experience of mobilising communities at the grassroots level to end their own hunger and meet their basic needs. We will be releasing a full schedule for delegates and sponsors shortly, in the meantime please register your interest by email.
