“I am delighted that for our second World Hunger Day spectacular we have a fabulous line-up of incredible voices that will be familiar to the ear of all generations all coming together with the same goal: to support this wonderful charity that I have taken straight to my heart, The Hunger Project. I look forward to us working together collectively to raise awareness of the incredible work of this global organisation to end chronic and persistent hunger. My mantra is closely aligned to that of The Hunger Project – ‘If you can think it, you can do it’
Please book your tickets now – and join us in a partnership that will ensure many more have the opportunity to end their own hunger and poverty.”
Tim Holder, the UK Country Director for The Hunger Project, added:-
“When we launched World Hunger Day last year with Dionne & Friends, we were committed to making this day a highlight of the annual events calendar. It is vital to continue to raise awareness of the plight of almost a billion people who continue to exist on less that 80 pence per day. It is however equally crucial to celebrate the achievements of many millions of people in rural communities whom are already taking inspiring steps towards ending their own hunger and poverty and that of the communities in which they live.
As we continue to build awareness of World Hunger Day and the work of The Hunger Project, it is our aim to deliver the funds necessary to empower many more thousands of women, men and their children towards a sustainable future.
The power of music transcends so many barriers and we are hugely grateful to all of our artists, past and present, who have committed their talent to supporting this important event.’’
World Hunger Day 2012 at the Royal Albert Hall is a one-night only celebration in London in support of The Hunger Project.
